Fund raising for the Eagle Field/Doolittle Raiders reunion in Fresno, scheduled for April 2001, is on track, thanks to the U.S.S Hornet/Eagle Field Dinner Dance and the efforts of Joe Davis to convince several Hollywood film crews to utilize Eagle Field. The on location shooting has put funds into the coffer for infrastructure improvements and added to the fund for the attempt next year to fly over half of the existing B25 bombers accompanied by a host of fighters in formation in a mass flight over California and the Doolittle home before spending the night in Fresno for the viewing of those who attend the fly'in and dinner dance. In the next few months, I will be able to provide additional information for those interested in attending the event. This one will be big.
This is a real memorial flight since many of the men who were there have continued to contribute to all that this country has become. In looking back at what they did, as young men, I wonder. All they ask for was a chance to protect and defend the country they loved and have the freedom to provide for their parents and their kids when the war was won.
